It’s a great stationary composter. I did upgrade to stainless screws on the body panels so I didn’t have to worry about breaking the plastic ones when I harvest or mix the compost. I also added a cedar cross brace to the bottom to add rigidity.
Answer to my prayers. This is the third type of composter I’ve purchased, and the first that is effective, user friendly, and does the job! Relief
This a replacement for one more than 25 years old. Easy to assemble and good sized. I’ve had it roughly a month and really like it. A very good value.
Easy to use really enjoy it a lot lightweight sturdy a little on the difficult side to be able to turn the compost
We’re happy to hear you’re enjoying your Soil Saver! We have some tips for easier soil turning: we recommend keeping a good mix of “greens” like fruit and vegetable scraps and “browns” like dry leaves, shredded paper, or small twigs, and making sure the compost stays slightly moist but not too wet. Breaking up larger pieces before adding them can also help the material turn and break down more easily. Thanks again for choosing the Soil Saver, and happy composting!
Hi Algreen. I got this as a hand me down from my neighbor. It looks great. My fear is that my neighbor says it’s atleast 20 years old. Should I be worried about plastic deterrioration and microplastics?
It's great to hear that your Soil Saver was passed along and is still looking good after so many years.
The Soil Saver is made from 100% recycled plastic and is designed for robust long-term outdoor use. When reasonably cared for, we’ve seen many Soil Savers last for decades.
Based on the photo, your Soil Saver appears to be in good condition, and we don’t see anything that would raise concern about deterioration or continued use. If it is still working as intended, we’d feel comfortable continuing to use it.
